Jesus, Me, and Therapy

A Virtual Conference Confronting Mental Health Stigma in the Black Faith Community

About Jesus, Me, and Therapy

Our mission is simple yet profound: to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health in the Black Faith Community and to affirm that seeking emotional and psychological care is not only wise, but deeply godly. We believe that God cares about every aspect of our well-being—body, mind, and spirit—and healing should not be relegated to prayer alone, but embraced through both spiritual insight and professional treatment.

We believe that mental wellness and spiritual growth go hand in hand. Our mission is to:

  • Normalize therapy as part of faithful living, showing it to be as vital as physical healthcare.

  • Equip faith leaders with the tools, language, and referral networks needed to shepherd congregants toward wholeness.

  • Empower individuals to embrace therapy without shame, recognizing that true strength comes from honesty and vulnerability.

Our Mission
Our Motivation

It all began when a minister, after enduring a traumatic experience, sought help for her mental health—only to be told to “just pray because you know God” and scolded for seeking professional therapy. Instead of retreating in shame or embarrassment, she chose to rise above the stigma and create a platform where faith and mental health could coexist, unapologetically.

At Jesus, Me & Therapy, we bring together the wisdom of the Scriptures, the expertise of mental health professionals, and a wealth of resources to offer a holistic approach to healing. We believe that healing begins when we are brave enough to confront the myths that tell us faith and therapy cannot coexist. Our virtual conference is more than just an event—it’s an invitation to embrace the fullness of healing and declare that seeking mental health care is part of God’s plan for our lives.

Join us as we rewrite the narrative and break free from the silence. Let’s heal together—spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.

Our Methodology

"Anointed and Anxious; Discipled and Depressed"

Confronting Mental Health Stigma in the Black Faith Community

Can you be anointed and anxious? Discipled and depressed?
Absolutely—and it’s time we talked about it!

In "Anointed and Anxious; Discipled and Depressed", we confront the mental health stigma silencing too many voices in the Black Faith Community. This powerful, eye-opening book blends cultural truth, spiritual insight, and real-life stories to break the chains of shame, guilt, and secrecy surrounding anxiety, depression, and trauma.

If you've ever been told to “just pray about it,” this book is your permission to seek healing God's way—through both faith and mental health support.

You are not alone. You are not crazy. You are not less saved. You are NOT weak.

You’re human—and healing WHOLLY is HOLY.
